First Lady's H.O.P.E.

During the 106th (2011) National Baptist Convention - Congress Annual Session the Health Outreach Prevention Education Ministry (H.O.P.E.) was launched. African Americans are disproportionately affected by many preventable diseases. This program aims to bring HOPE to our communities as we take action to dramatically increase and improve our congregations well being.

In 2012- the General Baptist State Convention of Wisconsin, Inc., kicked off the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc.'s Health Outreach Prevention Education Ministry (H.O.P.E.) . Our own first lady - Dr. Dessie Levy was appointed by the National Baptist as an Assistant Director for Region V for the National Ministry. The National H.O.P.E. Ministry is a collaboration of many National Baptist state conventions throughout the country. Dr. Levy has been supported by the parentbody of the General Baptist State Convention, Inc. to make this a statewide effort.

Throughout the year members at various GBSC Churches will continue collectively working together to heighten the awareness of various health issues; such as, diabetes, high blood pressure, childhood obesity and various other chronic illness. The "First Lady's H.O.P.E. will continue to be an important part of the True Love family's effort to increase the wellness of our congregation", states Pastor Levy. That is why we've partnered with various other local organizations like Marquette University,Milwaukee Area Technical College, Medical College of WI, Urban Church Wellness - Columbia St. Mary's to facilitate and expedite getting information into the communities that are affected."

Please continue to watch your weekly bulletins for information that can benefit you and your family.

We pray God's blessings for a "HEALTHY, SAFE, and SPIRITUALLY ENRICHED 2017"

Dr. Dessie Levy
Assistant National Director
Region V
National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.
